Plaster on the walls – Day 3 of the third week

It’s amazing how satisfying a little plaster on the can improve the situation. Thanks to my dad’s work on the plaster, the walls look much better. I really do like the smell of fresh plaster. Unfortunately there is still a list of improvements.

  • Primer coat of paint on all the fresh plaster
  • Leveling the floor, because of a crack
  • Laying out the new vinyl tiles
  • Installing the new vanity, sink and faucet

Still lots of things to get done. Note the scared dog, he’s confronting two of his major fears, cameras and bathrooms, just because I shouted SQUIRREL!

Design Coding

I know what you’re probably thinking or even saying.. “damn, not another video Fresa.” Sorry, to disappoint, but I thought it was funny and quite good enough to share. Discovered it on MU’s Web Communication blog.

Second Week of Remodel

So here is the current state of my bathroom. The project started because of two different events. First, I finally got around to removing the baseboard heater and second I created a leak in the sink drain.

I’ve never been happy with the existing sink and vanity. There had been a leak from the roof vent pipes that destroyed some of the wall behind the sink. the previous owners fixed the leak, but never repaired the drywall, so there was an ugly situation under the sink, plus the drawers were covered with yellow crud. Anyways, that’s all gone now.

The photo here is after removing two layers of vinyl flooring. The top layer of vinyl tiles came off easy. The second layer of “lovely” yellow sheet vinyl was a pain. Removing the layer, took me a day and a half of heavy scrubbing to get it to this stage, my hands ache.

Needless to say, I’m excited for a new flooring, vanity and sink. Planning on doing work on Sunday, so hopefully there’ll be updates.

tonight’s assignment

The goal I’ve set for tonight is researching headphones.  I’ll use them mainly for/at work and would like a good pair. My first stop was consumer reports and the only headphones that looked interesting and were in the reasonable price range were the Sennheiser PX 100  on ear and Sennheiser CX300 inserts. humm..

plain tired

So today was the second day of the new job and I haven’t done much of my eventual work. Spent most of yesterday filling out paperwork and talking about goals for the next few months. Ended the day with a walk across campus and putting together a set of drawers. Today was spent in an all day new employee orientation. I learned a bit about the place that I hadn’t known before and I’ve lived in town for over 20 years.

All that being said, I’m tired. Could be partly due to the fact that I’m trying to drink less caffeinated soda.

Currently washing laundry, loading the dish washer, and trying to figure out what to do with all the odds and ends I just brought home from my old office.

WordPress Update

Spent the evening updating my WordPress installation.  I had a few moments of worrying, when I navigated to the home page and nothing came up.  Turns out that during the uploading of new files, the old themes were deleted.  Once I logged into the admin side and reassigned a theme, things were back to normal.   Yah!

I’ve another mental note to make:  don’t put blankets and other bedding in the washer after nine on a work night.

keeping track of thoughts…

Throughout the day I think of different topics I’d like to post to this blog, however by the time I get to a computer with time to write I’ve forgotten them. I’m considering a “hipster PDA” to help me keep track of things. Seems like a much cheaper option than spending money on a piece of electronics that I might not use.

My worry is that even if I put these thought down, I don’t think it’d be that interesting. Like all the conversations and reasons I have in my head, sometimes it’s better to not share.

Currently listening to Two Gallants “Nothing to You“.
