October Weekend

Blues and BBQ festival this weekend.  Enjoyed music, wings and beer last night and am working up the motiviation to go over for a few hours this afternoon.   I’ve had a few busy weekends over the past few months that spending a day at home just chilling out is nice.  Though I’ve spent most of the day watching shows like Jurassic Fight Club on the History Channel, I don’t feel like I’m wasting time yet, but the weather is beautiful. Maybe a hike around a nearby park with the dog is a better choice.  Then cap off the night watching MU play Nebraska…   Go Mizzou!

The decision about flooring is on hold for a while.  Pricing for getting bamboo installed is out of my league and I don’t know folks that would be willing to help with installation.

My current creative project involves crocheting plastic grocery bags.  My inspiration is the design found on this website.  I’m using a smaller hook, so my stitches are not as bulky.  I’ll post a photo after I finish up the project.  Just need to add the handle loops, side pockets and trim.

Fall League Registration is Open!

It’s been an interesting weekend.  I decided on Friday to reinstall vista to see if it would fix a few things that have been bugging me.  So far so good, however it did take my a few days to get everything back up to working speed.  Of course, I also promised two different people that I would put together webpages for them.  Poor planning on my part once again.  Oh ya and it didn’t help that I got Spore yesterday and wasted most of the afternoon playing.  So since I wasn’t that motivated this weekend, I made up for it tonight by mowing the lawn, gather sticks, and posted the registration information for our ultimate fall league.

New Huddle set of articles.  This set covers Sub Calling I’ll have to read it sometime this week, through there are a few other subjects I may have to cover first.

Pretty much done

Close to Done

The bathroom remodel has been close to being done for most of the summer. Only things left to finish up are related to trim and sealing the cracks. I painted the closet white and recovered the shelves, so now bathroom has the most usable storage in the house. I think that was the first time the closet had been painted since the house was built. It might have even has the original brown shag carpet. I don’t miss that ugly carpet.

Next project is new floor for the rest of the house. Right now I’m trying to decide between either carpet or bamboo. Carpet is cheaper, but with a dog with lots of fur, shedding can be an issue.

a few months later

Today, I updated my wordpress installation.  Congrats to me!

I’ve actually finished most of the items on my previous todo list.   I grabbed most of my old blog entries and uploaded them here and I got most of the ultimate website forum, gallery and main page updated.  Upside to updating the forum is the sharp drop in spam registrations.  I think the number of fake accounts was hitting about 15-25 a day.

At work, I’m plowing through a varity of Flash training videos.

Cool Websites

Found Wordle this morning. You can either paste a bunch of text or link to a del.ici.ou user account to generate the image. This cloud is based off my account.

If you search through the gallery, there are a few examples created from books, speeches, etc.

Spent most of the morning playing around with Google Reader and finding people on twitter.

hard drive failed

My desktop partially failed a weekend ago. The machine was configured with two hard drives, one for the OS and the other with all my files. The setup was in hopes that if the OS failed, I would still be able to recover my files.

No such luck, the OS hard drive is still working and the file hard drive is squeaking and squawking. Unfortunately, I hadn’t gotten around to backing up all my digital photos (five years worth). The bright side is that I’ve been able to recover most documents without much trouble, just have to be very patient. I just have to make the decision if I want to take the time to continue shifting through tons of photo files and moving them when possible.

Lesson Learned: back up asap, don’t wait!

plain tired

So today was the second day of the new job and I haven’t done much of my eventual work. Spent most of yesterday filling out paperwork and talking about goals for the next few months. Ended the day with a walk across campus and putting together a set of drawers. Today was spent in an all day new employee orientation. I learned a bit about the place that I hadn’t known before and I’ve lived in town for over 20 years.

All that being said, I’m tired. Could be partly due to the fact that I’m trying to drink less caffeinated soda.

Currently washing laundry, loading the dish washer, and trying to figure out what to do with all the odds and ends I just brought home from my old office.
